Hey everyone,
We are trying to get all information from many people in the conference, however, we still are looking for people to give both their Medical and Billet forms in. We MUST have them in by April 12 2007, so that we can match people before the conference begins. It will help us out big time if you would do that as soon as possible. It will be good to talk to who you have been put with, well, atleast I think it would be. Also, medical forms must be in before hand, so that we can plan the food based upon your specific needs as well as other things which will be impacted based on them.
Thank you very much, (and sorry for being so pushy about forms)
Tayler Morin :D
(Delegate)

Hi everyone!
This is my first blog, so I will introduce myself quickly. My name is Allyson, and I’m a 17-year-old girl. I live in Burlington, and I’ve been involved with the youth conference for over a year, since it was first being planned. I will be one of the conference ‘facilitators’, mainly involved with the program and ‘Leaders Today’. I’m so excited to meet you all - it’s less than a month now!
I know some of you are concerned with what the weather will be like when you visit. Here is a link to a website that will tell you about the current conditions in Burlington:
The Weather Network - Burlington Forecast
Right below the current temperature there is a link called ‘view a webcam’. The webcam called ‘The Waterfront at Downtown Burlington’ is a nice view of Spencer Smith Park and the walkway by the water. The webcam called ‘Toronto (Lake Ontario)’ is a great view of the CN Tower. Check them out!
Also, if you want to know how much your currency is worth in Canadian dollars, here is a great currency converter:
Bank of Canada - Currency Converter
I hope those links are useful! If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to e-mail me at
I have MSN, so you’re welcome to add me there as well.
Bye for now,
Allyson

I’m sure there’s some curiosity/confusion about Thursday May 3rd, the day in Burlington schools.
So here’s how it’s going to work…
All the international students are matched up with Burlington students to stay with (for the first 2 days)
On the Thursday, International students - you will go to the High School of the Burlington student you stayed with!
Each school has a special program set up for that day.
At most schools, you will attend 2 classes with your Burlington student, and you will probably have lunch at the school, and in the afternoon there will be some kind of activity.
I know I’m really excited to have students at my school (Aldershot) because we’re having the most fun =)
We’re all going out for lunch to an amazing restaurant in our end of town, then our whole school is having our annual Beach Day in the afternoon.
We play games, and music, and have fun.
I will keep updating this when I find out what other schools are doing, so check back often! =)
-Beth

Hi from Louise:
I’m the administrative coordinator for the conference.
Did you know that Leaders Today will facilitate the conference workshops along with 4 jr. facilitators from our student planning committee. Our closing keynote speaker on Saturday, May 5th will be Marc Kielburger. He and his brother Craig founded Leaders Today.
Question:
Can you tell me why Marc and Craig started Leaders Today?

I had the opportunity to attend the conference yesterday, and wanted to put up these two pictures that I took from my phone.

Hey everyone! My name is Kayleigh, and I’m a Canadian student helping to run the conference on a bunch of different committees.
I’m getting excited about the conference, and I hope you are too!! If you’re from out of town, I thought it’d be nice to put together a list of things to think about for packing to Canada. Keep in mind that where we are in Southern Ontario, it’s usually warm in late April and early May. There’s a chance of rain, but it’s typically quite warm!! (I can 99% garuntee there won’t be snow.. I’ve never ever seen snow in May here!)
- clothes for a week, and think about layers to adapt to changing weather/activities
- maybe some t-shirts, shorts, pants and sweatshirts
- socks and underwear for a week
- comfortable shoes, good for walking
- you should be able to wear sandals by April/May, but consider them “extra”
- a light jacket, in case of rain
- sunscreen, in case of sun
- a toothbrush, and other toilettries that you may want to think about (double check about the liquids though..)
- a camera, mp3s, other electronic fun things to keep you busy on the plane
- a good book, or magazine, or whatever
- a nice outfit, nothing insane, but stepped up for our semi-formal event at the end of the week. (girls: cute dress or nice pants and a top? guys: buttoned shirt, blazer?) have fun with it, but don’t waste a lot of room in your luggage for one outfit!
- a bathing suit!
- a small token representing your home country/town to add to our quilt that will be a long-lasting reminder of the conference
- photos of friends, family and your country/city (I’m sure all the other delegates would be interested in seeing different parts of the world)
Be careful what you bring! If you are worried about losing it, it’s probably best you leave whatever it is back safe at home.
I’ll keep adding to this list as I think of more things.. feel free to add your ideas or questions in comments below!
Keep in touch,
Kayleigh R
